Ms. Halvorson has practiced civil litigation for almost 30 years. Her emphasis at the present time is employment law where she provides services as a litigator and consultant on employment issues. Ms. Halvorson handles issues relating to discrimination, wage/hour disputes, pre-litigation investigation services, and consultation relating to employment handbooks, employment contracts and severance agreements. Ms. Halvorson has experience as both a defense and plaintiff's attorney in civil litigation matters. She spent approximately 20 years defending public entities including school districts in Placer, Nevada, Sutter and Colusa counties. Her experience also includes insurance coverage issues and plaintiff's personal injury matters. Ms. Halvorson has successfully tried, arbitrated and mediated numerous matters, and has served as a Pro Tem Judge in Placer and Sacramento Counties. She is a member of the Association of Defense Counsel, a past member of the Anthony M. Kennedy Inns of Court, and maintains an AV rating with Martindale-Hubbell. Ms. Halvorson is a native of Nebraska. She graduated with honors from Arizona State University with a Bachelor of Science in Mass Communication in May 1975. She received her Juris Doctor degree from the University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law in 1979. While attending McGeorge, Ms. Halvorson worked for the Pacific Law Journal and interned for Judges Thomas McBride and Philip Wilkins in the United States Federal Court for the Eastern District of California. Ms. Halvorson is admitted to practice before all courts in the State of California and admitted in the federal court for the Eastern District of California.
