Rich attended law school at McGeorge School of Law with the intent of returning to real estate development and sales after graduation. However, Rich fell in love with the law and could not resist entering into graduation practice. While at McGeorge, Rich received many honors for oral advocacy and participated on the mock trial competition team that reached the semi-finals of two national trial advocacy competitions. Rich spent every semester on the Deans List, was appointed to the Order of the Barristers, graduated with honors, and was elected by his classmates to deliver the commencement address. In 1994, Rich left UC Davis at the conclusion of his junior year after he was drafted by the Pittsburgh pirates baseball club in the eleventh round of the amateur draft period After two years touring the minor leagues, Rich returned to UC Davis to finish his undergraduate degree. In 2002 Rich was elected into the U.C. Davis Athletic Hall of Fame. In his spare time, Rich loves to spend time with his wife Tina and his two kids (Richie and Alexandra), working out, and feeding his addiction to golf.
