Millstone, Peterson & Watts, LLP was formed in January 2005 by lawyers with more than 35 combined years of experience in large law firms. Our lawyers have handled an impressive list of complex past cases in the areas of intellectual property, employment law, litigation and appeals, alternative dispute resolution, franchising, real estate, technology law, and / or business law.

These words convey our practice philosophy in a universal language, and also form a clever acronym that spells the word “C.A.V.E.A.T.” “Caveat” is a Latin word used often in law to mean “a warning enjoining one from certain acts or practices.”

Mission Statement

In attempting to define how a firm mission statement would differ from our core values, we decided that while our core values are numerous, a mission statement should represent our number one objective. After reaching a consensus about what a mission statement actually is, we considered many lofty possibilities that highlighted quality, service, stature, and the usual litany of company platitudes. None of the typical sentiments seemed to have much meaning from the perspective of a client.

We at Millstone, Peterson & Watts, LLP consider the attorney-client relationship to be uniquely personal in nature. Since institutional “buzz phrase” mission statements did not capture this, we adopted a more unusual mission statement, one that we feel is uniquely appropriate for a law firm. Our number one objective, especially in litigation matters, is simple:

In litigation matters, we plan ahead and provide a phased budget defined by pretrial tasks. With client involvement, we develop action plans and budgets designed to apprise our clients of what we’re doing before it happens.
